Video transcription below (FYI I have not gone through to edit. Hey, I might as well be honest about it right?):
You know that you need to start adding in more videos to your content strategy here online for your social media posts. And I don’t know if you know this, but 92% you get 92% less traffic on posts that don’t contain at least one video. So what’s holding you back from creating more video content?
More specifically, what’s holding you back from creating a live video content? That’s what we’re going to talk about today on this episode.
Hello, and welcome to at talk TV conversations worth having I’m your host, Ed Troxell. And if we’ve never met before, welcome, be sure to say hello in the comments down below. And of course, if you’re a returning viewer, you know what to do say hello down below as well.

I also have my coach’s go live program, which is phenomenal. if I do say so myself. It helps you with your strategy and being able to leverage live streaming video so that you can not only show up more for your audience here online but also be more effective in your online marketing efforts. Because you can take what I teach you and apply it to any platform that you show up on and be able to repurpose that video content to other areas of your marketing. So be sure to reach out and I will tell you more about that. Now today, we are going to be talking about welcome, Diane, good to see you. I appreciate it. Thank you today. And I’ve been seeing you, by the way, Diane posts, and I’m excited about your website. So feel free to drop that in the comments.
See what happens when you show up live. This is what happens, you get to shout yourself out. So be sure that in the pop in your website and let people know what you do. Because I love being able to help support fellow business owners and being able to share that and have people who browse the comments because I see you guys browsing those comments, be able to see that as well. So feel free to do that. Now, what we want to talk about is video.
Now how many of you are struggling with video content?
Be honest, raise your hand, even if you’re watching the replay, I need you to be honest with me share that below because you’re not the only one. And today we’re going to talk about brainstorming. That’s part of the process before you even go live. That’s part of the process. And I want you to be able to get help with that with creating that content. Now before we dive in, I’d like to get some statistics because this helps set the stage because it’s not just me telling you this, which I’ve been telling us for a while. But it’s also the data that’s out there.
Social Media Today came out last week with, posts that don’t contain a video get 92% less traffic compared to a post that has at least one video.
So that right there should tell you, you got to start adding more video into your mix when you are posting online. Having your regular posts is great. But you need to have video content. It’s always been there for the last few years. But it is ramping up significantly here in 2021. And it’s so important.
Now, when it comes to video content, I want you to take baby steps because if you’re not doing video content, just creating some kind of video, it’s good to get you started. But I want you to also know that there’s a difference between pre-recorded video and video that you just upload from your device. Or vs sorry, vs live video, which is what you’re seeing here right now. There’s a huge difference.
We can talk about that more later. But I just want you to know that there are two types, there’s pre-recorded and there’s live, I’m always going to keep pushing the live. Why? Because that’s what I teach my clients. That’s what I work on. And there’s a bigger strategy at play here. And it’s to help you be more effective with your online marketing strategy. Now, you can still do pre-recorded videos, don’t get me wrong. But again, you have to step back and look at what’s the bigger picture here. And is the pre-recorded really going to be serving you versus the lives so that’s something I want to plant the seed. But for right now I want you to tell me what’s holding you back from doing video content. And this is totally safe place. You can just drop it in the comments.
There are going to be people browsing the comments. Who never comment, and this is going to help them. I encourage you all, of course, to share your thoughts below. But what’s stopping you from creating video content? A lot of times it can be, you don’t have time. You don’t have the lighting, you don’t have the camera, you don’t have the tech. Like, there are so many different pieces to this puzzle. So feel free to let me know below. And I’ll help assist you through there.
Catherine says planning consistency. Yes, exactly. That’s the big one. And that’s why I love live streaming. And that’s why I love, by the way, teaching you how to create your own live show. So real quick, before we get back into some more statistics here and talk about brainstorming. Inside my program coaches go live, that is where I actually teach you how to create your own live show, creating a strategy that allows you to be more consistent, that allows you to actually plan your content before actually going live. And knowing what you’re gonna do with it, not only during the live broadcast but most importantly, after the live broadcast. So that’s the thing here. When we’re creating content, and we’re doing the brainstorming sessions, we have to understand that it’s not just about what can we post?
What can we post today, that can be reshared?
Later, whether it’s through us or our audience, it doesn’t matter. But what is it that we can just reshare that’s going to still be of value, right? Because we get so caught up in the, I have to check this off my list, I have to create this Instagram post, it’s got to be this filter, and this brand name and everything has to be perfect. And then I’m done. Okay, now on to the next one. exhausting, exhausting, and don’t even get me started on blog posts, right? Like that’s a whole nother story, which is why I love live broadcasting because you can just show up, you can show up, deliver and engage quickly, and just be done with it. So wait for the camera to come back. And there we go. There we go.
All right. So there’s a, you know, method to the madness here. Now, why I love to show you statistics.
97% of consumers go online, to find a local business or service, 97%.
Just think about it. If you’re not already utilizing the online space to market yourself, you’re already missing out. And that’s why you’re here to learn and to be able to move forward. But then you also have at least 80% pre-pandemic 80% research accompany online before visiting or buying. Now if you think about it, we have to remember him Amit, welcome. love seeing you there, we have to Hey, Rhonda, we have to make sure that when we are showing up here online, whether it’s a regular post or video, we’re always trying to be of service, we’re trying to provide value. And then we’re also of course because we’re business owners trying to sell something right, we want to be able to sell something because that’s what keeps the lights on.
And that’s what keeps us going and being able to help serve as many people as we can. And so we have to remember that there it is a business and that we still have to implement strategies here. But we have to also think about 80% probably higher because of the pandemic but 80% research accompany before visiting or buying. And so that means that just having fancy copy on your website or in your posts necessarily mean that that’s going to convince somebody to want to work with you can trust me again, I’m not saying don’t do it. But again, we have to step back and understand that there are different elements that are working together here to help us with that bigger picture. So yes, have some copy. But also keep up with the times and add in the video. Why? Because video is what connects you it’s the next best thing to being in person. Think about it. Why are you here right now? Are you watching me right now?
If you’re watching the replay, I didn’t show up. I wanted to learn something. I wanted to see me wanting to hear me wanting to feel my energy and feel good about what’s going to come next.
And be able to maybe get in a good laugh or something, right? Because that’s what I like to do is just mix things up a bit. So think about your own habits. And understand that chances are your clients, your ideal audience is going to be wanting the same from you.
So it’s not just writing. It’s not just video. It’s not just email marketing. There’s a whole ecosystem here that we have to pay attention to which is overwhelming. Am I right? Raise your hand and down below in the comments is that overwhelming, especially when you are a solopreneur.
That’s why I’m here to help. And so you don’t have to be on every platform. If you are great but know that you can take some pressure off and pick the one that you want to really hone in on the brainstorming, we’re jumping into brainstorming, we will talk about what consumers want to be here, and then go from there. So we want to make sure that we are paying attention to what’s happening right now. And know that for 2021, you got to add video, if you are not using video, specifically, I’m going to tell you if you’re not using live streaming video, but we’ll settle for any video. If you’re not using video, you are missing out. And I don’t want that I don’t like that. That makes me really cringe. Because I know, you’re better than that. And I know that you can do this. And you can do this. And you will do these baby steps. And you’re here. So is this is a good start. So just know that you need to start incorporating that this year. Now, the thing I want you to know is that when you I’m going to pull up a paper, if you saw my post from earlier on my personal profile, I got notebooks all over the place, it’s getting out of hand. But I want you to do this for your planning.
This is kind of a bigger picture planning that will kind of talk about your episodes here. But while I have you, I want you to get out your pen and paper. And I want you to write down your quarters. So let’s see, maybe I can’t get this.
Take a second for my camera to focus on.
Something to focus on there.
I want you to write q1, q2, q3, q4 on your paper, write those things down.
And when you’re going through the things that you need to do, add video on YouTube, have a Facebook page, have your Instagram profile all up and running, whatever it is those key things that you think you need, I need you to put them in one of the quarters.
For example, a lot of video work, I know that I need to upgrade my YouTube channel. I just dumped videos over there. Don’t do much with them. I’m not, I’m not using you know, search engine optimization strategies. I don’t have a YouTube strategy. I’ll just tell you that right now. Why? Because that’s not my focus. Focus is here on Facebook. This is where my audience is. This is where I feel comfortable. And this is the starting point that allows me to then shop anywhere else I want. So YouTube is on my list this year for stepping up my strategy. But I didn’t put it in q1.
Because I felt the pressure. I was like oh my gosh, I got to do all these things and be everywhere. No, put it into three.
Immediately that allowed me to take a breath.
I can breathe, you three if it comes earlier. Awesome. Wise, and good. So I let that be there. And then on q1, its focus, the focus is just getting organized. It’s the beginning of the year, there are so many things working on the budget and all these different things for the business, right? Not just content, but budgeting and finances all that stuff. So remember to break up your to-do list into that quarter system. So then that way those bigger projects you might be thinking about Pinterest is not your main platform right now, in a quarter, and let it sit there until you get to that corner. It makes life so much easier.
Now let’s talk about planning brainstorming for your episodes here. So if you’ve never heard me talk about it before, you’ve never worked with me before. I call all of these live videos, episodes. Why? Because inside of my program coaches go live. I teach you how to create your live show. This means each time you go live, it’s an episode. So you get your own TV show, basically. And so every time you create a live video, that’s an episode. So each episode, you want to talk about something.
And how many of you struggle with that? So let me before I even give you all the goods here. Let me just ask you, even if you’re watching the replay.
If you are comfortable going live, you just don’t know what to talk about. Like, I have no problem being on camera. I just don’t know what I’m going to talk about live.
And then there might be some of you who are saying, I don’t want to be on camera. I know what I could talk about but I don’t want to be on camera. I’m good. I’m good.
So I want to hear from both of you. And let me know down below even if you’re watching the replay, why because it not only helps me with creating content for you. But it also helps others who are browsing the comments, who are here, our secret followers, I call them who are here paying attention, and then realizing they’re not alone.
I’ve just been struggling with this. That’s the important part. That’s why social media is so awesome when we use it appropriately. And when we have that openness for being social, it’s what it’s all about. It doesn’t just say marketing, right? It’s not just media. It’s not just creation. It’s social media. So we have to get in there. Diane says plenty to talk about rather not be on camera and see Diane, because I know Diane, I know that you’d be great on camera, you are great because I’ve seen some of your stuff. And with fitness, especially right now. Oh my gosh, yes, camera is huge. Rhonda says I tend to ramble when I go live. Yes. And that can happen because we’re naturally having a conversation. And think about social media. And being on let’s say Facebook will keep it easier. When you go on to Facebook. It’s no longer just a social network. It’s no longer just a social media app. Think of it as a networking conference. And the minute that you open up the app, it’s like you’re opening the door to a conference going in.
There’s a lot of things going on. There’s noise everywhere, there are people in the hallways, there are all these rooms, having sessions, all that stuff is going on. And you kind of has to like, no, I gotta see where I’m at. There’s a lot of things calling at me, oh, there’s a squirrel all over the place, right, which is where that time suck comes in. That’s when a lot of people think, ah, Facebook, it’s such a waste of time. And we have to sit back and understand, it’s only a waste of time, if we don’t be intentional with it, if we’re not more intentional with it, I should say. So we have to be more intentional with our time, which is why I teach my clients. First, with the time audit, we work on a timeout to exercise, because that way we can get over that I don’t have time and be able to then go into the brainstorming section.
So when you’re thinking about these platforms, these social networks, think of them as going into a conference, the minute you open up the app, you need to have a plan prior to opening the app. But as you walk in, you need to have a plan, maybe five minutes scrolling through social through your newsfeed, and then you spend 10 minutes going into a group. And then maybe you spend 10 minutes going live to talk about one topic that you’re an expert on that you know that that people have been asking you for. So when it comes to brainstorming, I want you to do this exercise, I want you to take your pen and paper. And whether you do it now or later, I want you to write out at least five topics that you know you can speak on for your business, right outside of just five simple ones. And now I want to give you a little insight on what consumers prefer to see from you.
These numbers might be a little low right now considering COVID and everything but 73% want to see posts that about a discount or sale. Now that doesn’t mean that you need to go out and have a discount or sale. Don’t get me wrong, if you have that awesome, but I’m not telling you to do that. But that’s just what people want to see.
Next thing is, 60% want to see posts that showcase a new product or service. Now again, you don’t have to have something new in order to showcase it can have something, quote old that you can repurpose and reshare with your audience because just because you shared it one time or two times this month, doesn’t mean that everyone thought so just keep that in mind. It’s repetition, being consistent and continuously sharing that information with people.
And then 59% want to see posts that teach them something. So for instance, I know Diane is a personal trainer, and so she can do a live video teaching us to eat better teaching us how to do a leg workout at home because we can’t go to the gym. Like these are some examples for you to be able to use.
Rhonda teaches on business so she can have an episode on the top three challenges entrepreneurs face every day.
And then guess what? That’s her topic. And then what are her three talking points? Those three challenges, right? So that’s what I want you to start doing is just thinking about that, you know, when it comes to creating your content, whether it’s a video or anything else that you’re working on, there’s always so much for us to cover. If you think like you don’t really know what to talk about, trust me, you do.
And there’s plenty of content, whether you’ve already created it, or there are places that you can go and search for what people are talking about, specifically, right here on Facebook, which don’t tell me about those groups that you’re in, get research newsfeed that you’re scrolling through market research, again, it’s going in with a specific intent, you’re going in with some goals, you’re no longer just scrolling through social, you’re going in, have a little scroll time, because that’s your break time, right? But get back to the sessions. If we’re talking about that networking situation, going into a networking conference, you want to make sure that you know what rooms you’re going to go into, know what people you’re going to try to look for, and connect with. be intentional with how you show up here online.
That is what’s going to make it worth your time. I will tell you, before we end here, because I want to keep this short, I will tell you that even if only one person shows up in person can be your next client.
Don’t worry about trying to reach hundreds or 1000s of people.
Nobody cares. It doesn’t matter. Because you’re just looking for one person.
Maybe to to sign up with you right? to work with you. Let me tell you, this morning, I hosted a clubhouse room and I and my #Ynotter’s and coffee (this was a thirty-minute coffee chat). The first 15 minutes, you know how many people showed up.
zero! Zero people showed up.
I was okay with it.
Why? Because I knew that I still showed up for my audience. And I was still going to be there for that time. And guess what two people showed up. One of which was able to come up on stage and share that it was the perfect aha moment the discussion we were having for her because she was going through a struggle and really needed to hear and talk it out. That’s what we did. was so worth it.
Again, remember, you just need one,one turns into 2, 3, 4 and it keeps going.
You have to do the work. And you have to be okay, with showing up to an empty room.
You have to be okay with showing up and being on stage here live.
Nobody in the audience.
Once you do, you’re okay with that.
Seats start to fill up.
The right people start to come to you.
And then you start building those relationships. One thing leads to another. Then you have those ideal clients you’ve been looking for.
So go out there today. brainstorm, take some time, brainstorm some ideas to really start incorporating more video. Specifically, live video.
If you need help, reach out, let’s talk I’d love to help you with getting your live strategy here. And being able to use video for you to show up more, not only on Facebook, on Instagram, or wherever else you show up.
Everywhere that you’re showing up online, because you can use that video. swear it’s a powerful, powerful tool.
There are people on the other side of the screen.
Human to human, people buy from people. You got to get a little bit more of you involved. Trust me. It’s so worth it. so worth it. You’ll have amazing content.
Go out there. Show up, deliver, and engage with your audience.
I just started doing lives. I would say I need to be more consistent to get the results
