Ed!!!! Lol. You think I’m joking! Lol Facebook will cut your LIVE off at four hours.
When I’m doing the countdown they are asking me to come back on and a lot of times this is at 3 o’clock in the morning LOL. They can’t get enough of that $5.00 BLING!!!
Totally! That’s one reason I made my show shorter. Plus I know so many people tune into the audio portion vs literally watching — we got stuff to do! 😂
Yes but then you have people like Roshanda Pratt and TeeJ Mercer that I would listen to for 24 hours straight! When they are saying good bye, I’m screaming at the screen, “Nooooooo!!!! Don’t go!!!!!” Lol
Ed Troxell, I realized what you’re say to be fact about 7 months ago and moved all my long form videos to YouTube. The analysis came about from my own personal interacts on both platforms. Great information.
If I promote my videos on YouTube the right way I can get thousands of views on my videos. I have never gotten thousands of views on my videos on my Facebook. On my second YouTube channel one of my videos has over 3000 views. That channel is about 3 months old. I’m also able to grow my email list from those videos and get new clientele as well.
Tracy V. Allen that is awesome! And now are you doing any kind of YouTube strategy in terms of Keywords in your titles or descriptions? I know many will be curious how people find you on YouTube since it’s a bit different than Facebook.
In fact, we should totally have you on the show talking about this 😉
I do use keyword strategies I did a lot of research on YouTube to try to figure it out because my other page wasn’t really gaining any traction but when I wanted to do the Vodcast for my Podcast I wanted it to be impactful on YouTube as well as it is on the Apple podcast. No not every video gets the type of use that I wanted to and that I know it’s my fault. You have to be very crafty with your titles and making sure your SEO is on point and cross promoting on other social media‘s to drive traffic to your YouTube page. My ultimate goal is to be able to monetize that page. I have a over 700,000 watch hours and I only have seven videos on that page.
Ed Troxell Creative send me the link for your show scheduler and we can set something up for next month. I also want to have you on my Podcasts as well.
Tracy V. Allen that is amazing! Yeah, my current YouTube channel doesn’t get much traction at all – keep in mind I don’t push it or go live there. I do upload all my episodes to it but that’s about it. I need to keep pushing forward over there too!
Since so many of you tuned in here let me ask, who here has a YouTube channel?
Reply to this comment with your YouTube channel and a sentence of what you share over there. That way we can subscribe to each other’s channels and build up our audiences there!
I share daily Aspirations and help people write out attainable daily goals and build on that foundation. I’m just starting so I have soooo much to learn.
Andrea Harrison that’s ok. You can still share the link if you like. Many of us are in that same boat. So this is a good way to start getting connected. I just posted on the newsfeed of my page this as well. That way more people can see it and add to it. 🙂
Andrea Harrison ok, your channel is so put together (totally serious too!) lol. I can’t believe you were going to hold us back from your greatness! Thank you for sharing and I just subscribed!
Ed that would be fun!!! We’re on our way to Atlanta this month! She’s working! She’s the event photographer for this event! I wish you could attend!!! It’s going to be EPIC!!!! She has 2 seats left!!! TeeJ Mercer IS PHENOMENAL!!!!!! Check her out!!!!!
After doing pretty regular Facebook lives for about 10 months, I failed to realize a return on the time investment. I am largely a B2B and even though my clients have Facebook pages, they often aren’t viewing videos. So I’m reducing frequency and length looking for the sweet spot of just enough to build/maintain a presence and reputation but not so much that I’m miss-investing the time.
Great question! It will really depend on your audience.
For example, I typically go live at 4 PM for my show. While that works for me and most of my US audience, it doesn’t really work for my growing Uk audience — it’s midnight their time.
So think about your audience and what are they probably doing during the week days?
Lunch time can be a popular time given so many are on their lunch break looking for something to do.
Kimberly Whitt oh interesting! Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised when you look at what we’re doing when we scroll through Facebook right? Often times we are not in a place where we can or want to listen.
Relay —- and facebook friends don’t like to be tagged, so I was told that’s why I should invite after I go live. I don’t like it and it takes up 2 or 3 minutes. #paparazziaccessories
Love it, knowing all this stuff is valuable. And yes I recognize “Social Media Examiner as an expert in their field (as I know it) I am keeping all their emails for years now. One day I’m going to catch up….lol 🙂 Thanks so much. I’m going to go to your page or site and see more of what you are doing.
A buddy of mine really encouraged I try YouTube … 🙃🙃
And are you testing it?
I like that. Facebook is a highway and we are all speeding through. Shorter media is better.
This is an interesting perspective Ed🤔
So good. We would produce stories for the news that tell the story in 2 minutes
I’m willing

I’m a fan. I have things to do. I don’t want to spend all day on Facebook, even though I want to support and learn.
Totally! That’s one reason I made my show shorter. Plus I know so many people tune into the audio portion vs literally watching — we got stuff to do! 😂

I’m sneaking on from work right now
Love it! As a busy mom, I need the info quickly so I can move on to the next task!
With information content I really appreciate the time limit.
Facebook needs to SHOW the videos and stop hiding them!!!!
I need training on HOW to keep my lives shorter… 🤣
Yes, I usually leave when the ad hits
Right!? Crazy but it’s what we do!
I need training on HOW to keep my lives shorter…
Hate the breaks between videos!

It’s time for change. Just like the crowd moved from MySpace to a new platform. For younger consumers FB is old they have moved on.
Great information you two
Ed Troxell, I realized what you’re say to be fact about 7 months ago and moved all my long form videos to YouTube. The analysis came about from my own personal interacts on both platforms. Great information.
Very interesting! And how has YouTube been working out for you?

I do Facebook lives
I’ve had YouTube uploads on my to do list for a while. Finally making time to execute.
Since so many of you tuned in here let me ask, who here has a YouTube channel?

I have a YouTube channel but I haven’t yet built up content.

Andrea Harrison ok, your channel is so put together (totally serious too!) lol. I can’t believe you were going to hold us back from your greatness! Thank you for sharing and I just subscribed!
Ed I cannot take credit! My 11 year old daughter, Madison created the channel and edited my welcome video! Lol
Andrea Harrison that’s awesome! Sounds like she’s get her first side gig that’s about to kick off! 😉
Ed she’s actually a professional celebrity photographer: Photos With Madison! Check out her website:

Not yet.
Oh I thought about it. Yes I have seen ads running with replays
and yeah, those ads are killing us!
Ed Troxell Creative yes i agree. Good topic and show!
Lisa Hendley thank you! So glad you were able to tune in!
I do Facebook live/Periscope/IGTV and repurpose it on my blog and YouTube
And have you found one of those live streaming options better than the other in terms of engagement?
I’ll keep using it for now since I repurpose it anyway
# replay thanks for the info!! Yall are awesome
you bet! Thanks for tuning in
Do you have any suggested days for lives? Is there a more popular day time?
Great question! It will really depend on your audience.
For example, I typically go live at 4 PM for my show. While that works for me and most of my US audience, it doesn’t really work for my growing Uk audience — it’s midnight their time.

Lunch time can be a popular time given so many are on their lunch break looking for something to do.
I have my own YouTube channel
Replay!!
It’s funny because I’ve been wanting to do YouTube!
see there you go!
I know about Social Media Examiner! Whoa.
Same here. Not a lot of people are watching my videos. Lives even less.
So interesting right!?
I try very hard to keep my podcast episodes short from 5-15 minutes. The only time they’re longer is with an interview
that’s a good length!
Me too! Long form.
Even if I stop on FB to watch a video, I only do if it has subtitles. I read the videos!
Oh that’s interesting! Good to know!
Ed Troxell Creative Somewhere along the way, I saw/heard a statistic that 80% of videos are read.
Kimberly Whitt oh interesting! Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised when you look at what we’re doing when we scroll through Facebook right? Often times we are not in a place where we can or want to listen.
Same with Instagram, I won’t read a novel.
Replay and SO worth watching!
So excited to have you!
Daniella Fassano Murphy this is GOLD! Please watch!
Wow great information

What media should I use if my customers don’t have youtube channels. I have had youtube for a long time but my customers a lot of them don’t have it?
Great question!
It’s important to know (for anyone reading this comment), that customers don’t have to have their own YouTube channel in order to watch your videos.
You can send them your video link and they can watch it without an account.
I would ask your customers what they prefer from you that will then help you with planning and creating your content
Hazel Edwards Chism
Love this!
My pleasure, and keep up the great work!
Is that what’s happening to me? It says my video has been interrupted and it cuts off? Is that just their ad?
You are valuable, I just sell jewelry, I don’t know computers.
Thank you! And I’m so glad you were able to tune in.
